Summary of Usage:

In order to properly use Quizlet, you have to create a personal account. The Create a New Study Set tab allows you to make flashcards, which allows you to insert a term and definition. Inserting an image on each flashcard is optional and may at times be necessary. These flashcards are easily accessed by my students on the quizlet website by searching quizlet by the set name and teacher username. These flashcards assist in preparing for a test and understanding classroom objectives.

Reflection

In my Educational Media 3300 class at Auburn University we were to complete a total of eight Tool Mastery's. Tool Mastery's are designed for future educator's to identify useful WEB 2.0 tools to integrate within the learning environment. Each technology tool we chose had to meet the following criteria: align with an appropriate Alabama Course of Study Standard, an International Technology Standard for Students, and a Bloom's Taxonomy level. Furthermore, a viewable sample of the tool, selection criteria, curriculum connection, and a summary of usage were to also be included. The example above provides evidence of understanding technology integration within the classroom. Familiarizing myself with technology tools enhances the learning environment and supports learning for all students. Technology enhances the learning environment by engaging students both individually and collaboratively to complete group assignments, individual assignments, and projects.

I have mastered technology tool use by researching and interacting with a plethora of WEB 2.0 tools. The scope of my research consisted of internet searches, collaboration with current educators, and observation in a classroom environment. The tool above supports the learning needs for all students because it will assist them in remembering vocabulary terms or concepts/facts that align with Alabama Course of Study Standards. While choosing different tools, I evaluated the diversity of learners within a classroom based on specific needs and abilities. Quizlet allows students to flip through and read the flash cards or use an audio function to read the flashcards aloud. Additionally, a visual image can be presented on the flash cards as well. A portion of students in a learning environment are English Language Learners or may read below grade level. This particular tool is helpful for these students because the information can be read to them aloud.

I believe in independent learning. This tool adequately supports independent learning because students can flip and learn the flashcards themselves without a student quizzing them on the information. The answer on Quizlet is revealed by a click of an icon or a flip of a paper flashcard from a Quizlet printable template. I feel this tool will engage all students, improve grades, and presents study materials in a new way. I feel it is important to integrate technology tools within the classroom because of its prevalence in our society today. As a second grade teacher, I will be able to meet the needs of all students who enter my classroom with the technology tools I have identified and continue to encounter.
