Reflection

     In my Foundations 3000 course at Auburn University I am participating in twenty-five service learning hours in a third grade classroom at Ogletree Elementary School for ten consecutive weeks. Thus far I have arrived in a timely manner and exceeded the weekly hours I am required to complete. Furthermore, I arrived early to prepare for the daily activities my cooperating teacher assigned to me. Preparation prior to 8:00 AM allowed me to work a complete two and a half hours by interacting, assisting, and teaching students. This requires adequate time management skills, preparedness, and responsibility. It is crucial to arrive in a timely manner as a teacher in an elementary classroom because I am held responsible for all my students from the time school begins until dismissal. Without the presence of a teacher due to tardiness will delay student learning until I arrive or the school provides a substitute. These characteristics exemplify professionalism, which will carry into my future career as an educator.
